On Thursday, Fairbury escaped with a win against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley by the margin of a single free throw, 33-32. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fairbury.
It was another big night for Blake Starr, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Fairbury's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brodie Prellwitz, who scored eight points.
Fairbury now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairbury's road trip will continue as they head out to face Central City at 7:45 p.m. on December 29th. Central City is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games. Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sacred Heart on January 2, 2024. Sacred Heart will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
