The Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens waltzed into their match Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 67-60 win over Classical Magnet. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Academy of Science and Innovation was led to victory by Jamal Kulaib and Amari Cruz. Kulaib scored 22 points along with seven steals, while Cruz dropped a double-double on 29 points and 13 rebounds. Cruz also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Bolden, who scored two points along with five steals.
Academy of Science and Innovation's victory bumped their record up to 6-1-1. As for Classical Magnet, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2.
Academy of Science and Innovation will head out on the road to face off against Sports & Medical Sciences Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Sports & Medical Sciences Academy is ranked 26th, while Academy of Science and Innovation is ranked 36th). As for Classical Magnet, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th.
