The Pepperell Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. The matchup between them and Mt. Zion wasn't particularly close, with Pepperell falling 70-53. Pepperell found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 23 to 9 on offense.
Several Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chris Fife, who scored 16 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliot Goggans, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Corvin Palmer was nothing short of spectacular for Mt. Zion: he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Austin Waters, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Pepperell's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Mt. Zion, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-9.
Pepperell will head out on the road to challenge the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Georgia (Chattooga is ranked 464th, while the Dragons are ranked 482nd). As for Mt. Zion, they and the Red Devils will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
