Northeastern is on a 22-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Riverside a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Northeastern Jets will take on the Riverside Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northeastern comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Northeastern struggled with assists on Saturday (Fairbanks had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Northeastern was outmatched by Fairbanks at home and fell 51-8. Northeastern was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-5.
Jaelynn Bobst was Northeastern's leading scorer, having posted four points.
Alison Shaner held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Riverside lost to Milton-Union on the road by a decisive 35-21 margin on Thursday. Riverside has struggled against Milton-Union recently, as their match on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Northeastern's loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Riverside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Northeastern skirted past Riverside 55-52 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Does Northeastern have another victory up their sleeve, or will Riverside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
