The Jac-Cen-Del Eagles will face off against the Milan Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Jac-Cen-Del has struggled recently with 15 defeats in a row, while Milan will arrive with three straight victories.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Jac-Cen-Del and South Ripley have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Eagles fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 8-7.
Savannah Steele was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those RBI were her first of the season. Hayden Comer was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Milan made easy work of Southwestern on Thursday and carried off a 14-1 win. Considering the Indians have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kynadee Bode made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caroline McMillan, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Voss, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.
Milan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwestern only posted an OBP of .263.
Jac-Cen-Del's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Milan, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8.
Jac-Cen-Del might still be hurting after the 19-0 defeat they got from Milan in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
