Longmeadow won the last time they faced Putnam Vo-Tech, and Chris Bousquet did his part to make sure it happened again. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Beavers on Tuesday for which the team can thank Bousquet, who had 16 digs and six aces. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 aces per game.
One reason for the win was Longmeadow's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-14, 25-12.
Meanwhile, Frontier Regional came into Tuesday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Belchertown on Tuesday.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 21-25, 25-22.
Frontier Regional found their leader in freshman Evan Maio, who had 14 digs and two assists. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Maio.
Frontier Regional's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Longmeadow, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Longmeadow has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Frontier Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Longmeadow took their victory against Frontier Regional when the teams last played last Monday by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
