Even though the Magnolia West Mustangs scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, the Rudder Rangers still came out on top. Rudder strolled past Magnolia West with points to spare, taking the game 77-59. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Rudder.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rudder to victory, but perhaps none more so than Randon Cooks, who scored 20 points along with eight assists and seven steals. That's the first time this season that Cooks posted eight or more assists. Ryan Campbell was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
The victory got Rudder back to even at 13-13. As for Magnolia West, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.
Rudder will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Brenham at 6:30 p.m. Brenham is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Magnolia West, they will head out on the road to challenge Lake Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Magnolia West likes a good challenge.
