Coral Glades hasn't had much luck against Taravella recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Coral Glades Jaguars are taking a road trip to face off against the Taravella Trojans at 6:30 p.m. Coral Glades will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Taravella's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Coral Glades hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Coral Glades' pitchers stepped up to hand Stranahan a 16-0 shutout on Wednesday. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Jaguars yet this season.
Tyler Wojtynek and Delfin Gonzalez were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Wojtynek pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Gonzalez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Wojtynek posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Wojtynek scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Gonzalez scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Coral Glades got a big performance out of Kaden Clark, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Clark a new career-high. Zack Krey also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Taravella gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Monarch 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.
Like Coral Glades, Taravella also got a great game from a two-way player: Joseph Ghann. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Ghann gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Taravella got a great performance from John Almeida as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Almeida has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
Ghann wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Morgan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another was JC Martinez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Coral Glades pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Taravella, their record now sits at 11-4.
Coral Glades might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Taravella when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Coral Glades avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
