The Pendleton Heights Arabians will head out on the road to square off against the Greenfield-Central Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pendleton Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Pendleton Heights is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Westfield, who was ranked 21st at the time (Pendleton Heights was ranked 12th). The Arabians took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shamrocks on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Arabians in their meetings with the Shamrocks: they've now lost four in a row.
Pendleton Heights got a good showing from Carson Cauley, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Ty Frakes was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Greenfield-Central came out on top against North Central on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Cougars took their contest against the Panthers 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
Steven Walker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carter Ellis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Luke Sitzman also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Greenfield-Central now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Pendleton Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-3.
Greenfield-Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pendleton Heights hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. It's a different story for Greenfield-Central, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Pendleton Heights' hitters?
Pendleton Heights couldn't quite get it done against Greenfield-Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Arabians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
