Softball Recap: York Has No Trouble Against Lyons

York barely beat Lyons the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dukes put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 13-6 win on Wednesday. The Dukes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Lillianah (Lilly) Burda, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since April 1st. Another player making a difference was Kayla Winters, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for York and bumps their season record up to 12-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Lyons, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. York will welcome Hinsdale Central at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Lyons, they will be playing at home against Proviso West at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
