The Hammond Central Wolves will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Proviso East Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Hammond Central came up short against Hammond Bishop Noll and fell 66-57.
Marcus Browder put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 24 points along with three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Da'shawn Woods was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Proviso East was able to grind out a solid victory over Proviso West on Monday, taking the game 72-61. The win made it back-to-back wins for Proviso East.
Proviso East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joaquin Dixon led the charge by scoring 23 points. Dixon hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Pickens, who scored 20 points.
Hammond Central has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Proviso East, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
