After flying high against the Calvert Cavaliers on Wednesday, the Leonardtown Raiders came back down to earth. Leonardtown took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of McDonough. Leonardtown has not had much luck with McDonough recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Leonardtown lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Darius Searles, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Elijah Miller, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Leonardtown struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Leonardtown has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for McDonough, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leonardtown will square off against Huntingtown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. McDonough is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. on January 10th. Great Mills will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
