Softball Recap: Clearfield Wins Going Away Against Viewmont

After only two runs in their last matchup, Clearfield made sure to put some runs up on the board against Viewmont on Tuesday. The Falcons were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Vikings. Considering the Falcons have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jenna Lloyd made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Clearfield got a massive performance out of Alexandra Bingham, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Bingham a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Skylar Davis, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Clearfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Clearfield has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Viewmont, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Clearfield is set to face off against their familiar foe Northridge at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Viewmont will square off against rival Bountiful at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
