The Edgewood Warriors will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Lakeside Dragons at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. Edgewood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 181 points over their last three matches.
Geneva typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Edgewood proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 57-48.
Mckenna Vencill was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with four steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Katie Mccollister, who scored 14 points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Lakeside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by Madison on the road and fell 68-23. While losing is never fun, Lakeside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 726th, while Madison is ranked 133rd).
Edgewood's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Lakeside, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
Everything came up roses for Edgewood against Lakeside in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 75-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Edgewood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
