Garrett Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
Brown wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Hendrickson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Kingsford is undefeated when Hendrickson posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Jack Kriegl was another, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Negaunee waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Patriots.
Killian Ryan looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Tristan Slater was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Evan DellAngelo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Kingsford now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Negaunee, their record now sits at 6-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kingsford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Negaunee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Kingsford beat Negaunee 5-0 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Flivvers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
