Edinburgh is 2-8 against Waldron since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lancers will face off against the Mohawks at 5:00 p.m. Edinburgh will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, Edinburgh got the win against Columbus Christian by a conclusive 22-8.
Cole White made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. White was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Ayden Swallows and Milas Burkman did most of the damage at the plate: Swallows got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Burkman got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Edinburgh is undefeated when Burkman posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-13 otherwise. Carter Mead-Whited was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
Edinburgh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Waldron, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over Morristown on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mohawks as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Charlie Fischer was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Troy Atwood, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of J.D. Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Edinburgh's record now sits at 6-13. As for Waldron, their record is now 6-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Edinburgh has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Waldron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Edinburgh couldn't quite get it done against Waldron in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
