The Aurora Huskies fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took down Central City 41-27 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Aurora also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Maddex Egger was on fire: he rushed for 297 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Egger was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Hernandez, who picked up 90 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Central City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Jensen, who threw for 350 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 14.6 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Dent, who picked up 181 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Aurora has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Central City, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5.
Aurora will take on Adams Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Adams Central is ranked 26th, while Aurora is ranked 25th). Central City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
