They fell just short of Cleveland Central Catholic by a score of 45-42. The match was a 23-23 toss-up at halftime, but Our Lady of the Elms couldn't quite close it out.
Our Lady of the Elms' loss came despite strong showings from Pilar Hampton and Faith Farris. Hampton dropped a double-double on 22 points and 22 rebounds, while Farris dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Hampton is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 13 games she's played.
Teavonna Clements was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Imani Dotson, who scored nine points.
Our Lady of the Elms now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Cleveland Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.
Our Lady of the Elms will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Open Door Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Cleveland Central Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against the Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
