Given Great Bend's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Sunrise Christian Academy Silver is ranked 130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Larned came up short against St. John on Saturday and fell 47-40. That's two games in a row now that Larned has lost by exactly seven points.
Great Bend's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Larned, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Everything came up roses for Great Bend against Larned when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 60-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Great Bend since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
