The Delaware County Christian Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Chichester Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Delaware County Christian barely beat Plumstead Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Plumstead Christian on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Knights have posted against Plumstead Christian since April 12, 2021.
Beau Lyren tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Delaware County Christian's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Sam Dixon was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matteo DeBellis, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.
Delaware County Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Chichester entered their tilt with Penn Wood on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They didn't even let the Patriots on the board, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won four matchups by more than 14 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Matt Johanson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Johanson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Julian Sparks looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Alex Kester was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to triples, as he's now hit at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cole Sanford, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.
Delaware County Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Chichester, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Delaware County Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chichester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Delaware County Christian couldn't quite get it done against Chichester in their previous matchup back in April of 2019 as they fell 5-0. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
