Basketball Recap: Fort Walton Beach Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Dylan Ivison and Rodric Starks

Fort Walton Beach's tournament run continued when they took on Lowndes on Saturday. The Fort Walton Beach Vikings took a hard 60-44 fall against the Lowndes Vikings.

Despite the loss, Fort Walton Beach had strong showings from Rodric Starks, who posted ten points and seven rebounds, and Dylan Ivison, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points and four steals. Starks is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Xy Childres, who put up seven points.

Kam Jackson was a one-man wrecking crew for Lowndes as he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. Jackson has become a key player for Lowndes: the team is 7-3 when he posts at least ten rebounds, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Martin, who had six points and 13 rebounds.

Fort Walton Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Lowndes, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Fort Walton Beach wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-34 loss against South Cobb on the 28th. As for Lowndes, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-42 win against Mount Vernon on the 30th.
