Even though the St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders scored an imposing 67 points on Saturday, the Holy Trinity Titans still came out on top. It was close, but Holy Trinity capped 2023 with a 70-67 win over St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Holy Trinity.
Several Marauders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mekhi Gidney, who scored 25 points. Gidney scored a full 37.3% of St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jay?meir Goosby, who scored 17 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
Holy Trinity's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Holy Trinity will look to defend their home court on Friday against St. John the Baptist at 7:30 p.m. St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute and Bishop Timon-St. Jude will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bishop Timon-St. Jude has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 528 points over their last six matchups.
