The Milpitas Trojans fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Wilcox Chargers on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Chargers 72-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Milpitas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacob Wrencher. Despite the final result, he scored 33 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wrencher has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Isaac Sisay, who scored 12 points.
Milpitas has not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season. As for Wilcox, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-13.
Milpitas will take on Los Altos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Milpitas has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Wilcox, they will head out on the road to square off against Gunn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in California (Gunn is ranked 426th, while Wilcox is ranked 435th).
