The Paraclete Spirits will take on the Frontier Titans in a tournament on Friday. Paraclete is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
On Thursday, Paraclete beat Saint Joseph 9-4.
Sydney Scripter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jessa Hettiger, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Norah Javorsek also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Frontier's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Redwood on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Titans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Baden Conley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.
Having lost for the first time this season, Frontier fell to 9-1. As for Paraclete, their record is now 10-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Paraclete hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. However, it's not like Frontier struggles in that department as they've averaged .509. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Paraclete couldn't quite get it done against Frontier in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 as they fell 7-3. Can the Spirits avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
