After flying high against the Hartsburg-Emden Stags on Friday, the Delavan Panthers came back down to earth. Delavan took a 56-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Princeville on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Delavan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while Princeville is ranked 149th).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Micah Brockhouse, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Pagel, who scored eight points.
Delavan has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Princeville, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Delavan will head out on the road to face off against Greenview at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Princeville will be home for the holidays to greet Midwest Central at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Midwest Central is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
