Hampton Roads Academy is 0-8 against Catholic since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hampton Roads Academy Navigators will look to defend their home court against the Catholic Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hampton Roads Academy waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Norfolk Academy, posting a 52-24 win on the road.
Hampton Roads Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zuriel Pendleton-morant, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Pendleton-morant is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Lasley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Catholic waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with 15 straight wins but they left with 16. They blew past Norfolk Christian 58-33.
Hampton Roads Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Catholic, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6.
Hampton Roads Academy took a serious blow against Catholic when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 81-35. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hampton Roads Academy was down 39-14.
