Basketball Recap: Frontier Academy Victorious

Manitou Springs came into Thursday's game looking for another win against Frontier Academy, but Emily Gesick wouldn't allow it. The Frontier Academy Wolverines walked away with a 49-40 win over the Manitou Springs Mustangs on Thursday thanks in part to Gesick, who went 9 of 20 on her way to 20 points and six steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023.

The team also got some help courtesy of Macee Flores, who posted six points and seven rebounds. Flores is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Manitou Springs' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklynn Sheffield, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Annika Kuzbek was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Frontier Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Manitou Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Frontier Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 77-10 loss against University on the 13th. As for Manitou Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-18 defeat against Monte Vista on the 13th.
