Whitney Young and Kenwood are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Whitney Young Dolphins will face off against the Kenwood Broncos at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Whitney Young's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.
Whitney Young is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Lane Tech: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Whitney Young blew Lane Tech out of the water with an 80-47 final score. The Dolphins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 26 points or more this season.

Destiny Jackson was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 29 points and nine boards. The matchup was her seventh in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nina Lloyd, who posted eight points and four steals.
Whitney Young smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Kenwood waltzed into their game on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They took down the Wildcats 69-52. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Wildcats are ranked 46th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Whitney Young better keep an eye on London Walker George. She was instrumental in Kenwood's win, as she made all 8 shots she took for 24 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Walker George a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Icesis Thomas, who went 5-for-7 on her way to 14 points and four steals.
Whitney Young is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points over those games. As for Kenwood, their record now sits at 28-2.
Whitney Young came up short against Kenwood in their previous matchup back in January, falling 69-61. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Kenwood's Ariella Henigan, who went 12-for-16 to rack up 35 points along with five assists and five boards. Now that Whitney Young knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
