The Wendover Wildcats were the 26-13 winner over the Milford Tigers when they last played one another back in November of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Wendover took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Milford. Wendover has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Despite the loss, Wendover still got an impressive performance from Paulina Gomez, who scored 20 points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadence Murphy, who scored nine points along with 14 rebounds and five steals.
Tayleah Spaulding continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Milford, scoring 18 points along with seven steals and six assists. The game was Spaulding's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Kiley Fisher was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Wendover's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Milford, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wendover and Monument Valley will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Monument Valley will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Milford, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome White Pine at 4:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Hopefully White Pine focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday.
