Baseball Recap: Green's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Two

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Green had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Federal Hocking Lancers a 16-0 shutout. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Jonathan Knapp made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Blake Smith was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Conner Blanton, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Green and bumps their season record up to 16-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Federal Hocking, they dropped their record down to 0-20 with the loss, which was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Green nor the Lancers have any future games scheduled.
