Jacksonville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Neveah Nicholson led the charge by going 9 for 14 en route to 23 points and four steals. What's more, Nicholson also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in November of 2024. DeAsia Prothro was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 11 boards.
Jacksonville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Wenonah posted their closest win since December 10, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged Moody out 62-60.
Jacksonville better keep an eye on Samarian Franklin. She was instrumental in Wenonah's win, almost dropping a double-double with 35 points and nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Franklin has scored at least a third of Wenonah's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zariah Evans, who posted six points and nine boards.
Wenonah's victory bumped their record up to 29-4. As for Jacksonville, their win bumped their record up to 24-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Jacksonville has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wenonah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Jacksonville took a serious blow against Wenonah in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, falling 58-24. Can Jacksonville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
