If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Pella. On Friday they take on Newton at 7:30 PM. Newton will need to watch out since Pella have now posted big point totals in their last four contests.
After flying high against South Tama County two weeks ago, Pella came back down to earth. Pella and Oskaloosa were almost perfectly matched up last Friday, but Pella suffered an agonizing 35-36 loss. Pella's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, their game two weeks ago wasn't at all kind to Newton, but their most recent contest may have softened the blow. They were able to grind out a solid win over Grinnell, winning 50-39.
Newton's victory lifted them to 5-3 while Pella's defeat dropped them down to 6-1. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Newton and Pella will really light up the scoreboard.
