The Lutheran-Northeast Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 61-36 loss at the hands of Norfolk Catholic. While losing is never fun, Lutheran-Northeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Norfolk Catholic is ranked 74th).
Despite the loss, Lutheran-Northeast still got an impressive performance from Kealy Ranslem, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Rose-hancock, who scored six points.
Norfolk Catholic found their leader in underclassman Sidonia Wattier, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wattier has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hayden Brummer, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Lutheran-Northeast bumped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Norfolk Catholic, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6.
Lutheran-Northeast will be playing in front of their home fans against Battle Creek at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Norfolk Catholic on the road again on Tuesday and play against O'Neill at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
