The Versailles Tigers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 71-58 win over Eldon. Given Versailles' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Mustangs are ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ryder Williams, who scored 32 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Versailles' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Murdock, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Versailles is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Eldon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.
Versailles will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Warsaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday. Eldon's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. The timing is sure in Blair Oaks' favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Mustangs have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
