The Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers are taking a road trip to challenge the Chatham Central Bears at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Bartlett Yancey didn't have too much trouble with Graham as they won 55-37. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Buccaneers.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bartlett Yancey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Newcomb, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 21 points. Eli Bynum was another key player, putting up six points along with seven assists and six steals.
Bartlett Yancey was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Graham only posted four assists.
Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Chatham Central made off with a 32-31 win over Southeast Alamance. The 32-point effort marked the Bears' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Bartlett Yancey better keep an eye on Reid Albright. He was instrumental in Chatham Central's win, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Albright's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brennen Oldham, who posted five points in addition to eight boards and three blocks.
Bartlett Yancey's record now sits at 4-6. As for Chatham Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Kentrell Willis and Albright. Willis has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 11.1 points and 2.4 rebounds. For his part, Albright has averaged 21.2 points, 5.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks on 51.5% shooting.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's contest: Bartlett Yancey has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 38.2% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Chatham Central, though, as they've only made 25.4% of their three-pointers this season. Given Bartlett Yancey's sizable advantage in that area, Chatham Central will need to find a way to close that gap.
