The Lisbon Broncos's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Carrington Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Lisbon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Carrington is ranked 16th).
Last Monday, Lisbon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 40-34 to Oakes. Lisbon has struggled against Oakes recently, as their match on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Lisbon saw an underclassman step up: Tarynn Gilbert almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kyra Haecherl, who scored five points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Carrington entered their tilt with Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Carrington came out on top against Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg by a score of 54-45 on Tuesday.
Lisbon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Carrington, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5.
