The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Archbishop Murphy Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Edmonds-Woodway has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Monday, Edmonds-Woodway didn't have quite enough to beat Shorewood and fell 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by just one run.
Helena Marsh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, Amari Davidson-Lee made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Archbishop Murphy sidestepped Mountlake Terrace for a 4-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Archbishop Murphy also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Ari Dixon gave up three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. Dixon has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sarah Fletcher, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliya Dixon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Edmonds-Woodway has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Archbishop Murphy, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Edmonds-Woodway has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Archbishop Murphy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Edmonds-Woodway was able to grind out a solid win over Archbishop Murphy in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 11-6. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
