The Northwestern Warriors will challenge the Indian Lake Lakers at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Northwestern took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Graham Local.
Addy Hensley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits.
At the plate, Claire Stott was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Azzy Hammer, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Indian Lake). They put the hurt on Anna with a sharp 14-3 win on Tuesday. Considering the Lakers have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Bre Wisener made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wisener was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Indian Lake got a massive performance out of Annie Rapp, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Rapp a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Dixon, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Indian Lake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Indian Lake has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Northwestern, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
