The Lanett Panthers lost against the LaFayette Bulldogs on January 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Lanett took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of LaFayette. While losing is never fun, Lanett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while LaFayette is ranked 117th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead LaFayette to victory, but perhaps none more so than Branaviyun Story, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Story has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Deaundra Vines, who scored 11 points along with eight assists.
Lanett's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for LaFayette, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Lanett won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Callaway at 5:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Callaway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for LaFayette, they will head out on the road to face off against Horseshoe Bend at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
