Softball Recap: Bolivar-Richburg Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Bolivar-Richburg had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They put the hurt on the Cuba-Rushford Rebels with a sharp 10-3 win. Considering the Wolverines have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kylee Whiting made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Teegan Sibble, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Cassidy Stives was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Bolivar-Richburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.

Bolivar-Richburg pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cuba-Rushford, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bolivar-Richburg will face off against Andover at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cuba-Rushford, they will head out to face off against Canisteo at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
