Clarkston is 0-5 against Hapeville Charter since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Clarkston Angoras on the road again and play against the Hapeville Charter Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Two weeks ago, Clarkston came up short against Miller Grove and fell 47-39.
Clarkston's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jonathan McBride, who scored 24 points along with five steals. Mpeti Isha was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hapeville Charter pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-56 to Holy Innocents Episcopal. While losing is never fun, Hapeville Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Holy Innocents Episcopal is ranked 35th).
Despite the loss, Hapeville Charter got a solid performance out of Jonathan Goldson, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Goldson hasn't dropped below 15points for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Keith Parker, who scored 15 points.
Clarkston has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Hapeville Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Clarkston have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 24 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Hapeville Charter, though, as they've been averaging only 29.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Clarkston lost to Hapeville Charter on the road by a decisive 61-47 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Clarkston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
