The Smithfield Packers lost against the Warhill Lions back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Smithfield was outmatched by Warhill on the road and fell 61-25. While losing is never fun, Smithfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Warhill is ranked 50th).
D'Shela Walker had an outrageously good game for Warhill as she scored 25 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. The contest was Walker's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Akeylah James, who scored 10 points along with 7 steals and 6 assists.
Smithfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Warhill, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Smithfield will be playing at home against Poquoson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Warhill, they will head out on the road to face off against Jamestown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jamestown will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
