Baseball Recap: Regis Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Regis won the last time they faced Santiam and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Rams walked away with a 7-3 win over the Wolverines.

Owen Eaton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. He has become a key player for Regis: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 6-7 otherwise. Eaton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Korben Schumacher, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Regis is 6-2 when Schumacher posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Rook Smith, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Regis is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Santiam, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-12.

Regis will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolverines: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
