Grady Long made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Long was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Jeremiah Diaz looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because La Serna is 6-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Adrian Dominguez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Christopher Soto, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three match, California brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over South Pasadena on Saturday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Condors' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Andrew Gonzalez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, California got a massive performance out of Ricky Gonzales, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Martinez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
California always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
La Serna's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for California, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
