1A Nisqually - Division 2 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Charles Wright extended the longest winning streak in 1A Nisqually - Division 2 this week by beating Cedar Park Christian, 27-20. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Tarriers.
Charles Wright's dynamic duo of Fritz Jacobson and Beau Iverson proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jacobson threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns and Iverson had 80 yards receiving. Collin Hungate helped Charles Wright's passing attack out by catching two balls for 60 yards.
Melvin Thornton was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 146 yards as Chimacum defeated Cedar Park Christian. Teammate Derek Ajax added to the ground attack by rushing for 83 yards.
Charles Wright's Jacobson and Iverson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jacobson has thrown for 427 yards this season, while Iverson, a 6-foot-8 receiver, has eight catches for 171 yards. Thornton from the Cowboys leads the league in rushing with 705 yards.
Chimacum made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,295 from 12,025. The improvement came about via a 28-13 victory over Life Christian Academy last week.
