Westlake Academy has gone a perfect 9-0 against Nazarene Christian Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Westlake Academy Blacksmiths will challenge the Nazarene Christian Academy Lions at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Westlake Academy saw some tournament action on Saturday. They put the hurt on Trinity Leadership with a sharp 8-1 win.
Hudson Loader was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie N, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Westlake Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Leadership only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, Nazarene Christian Academy made easy work of Fellowship Academy on Friday and carried off a 14-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won four in a row.
Jacob Struble and Noah Hargrove were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Struble tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Hargrove tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Struble scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Hargrove scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Struble a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aidan Adams, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Carson Drury, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
The victory got Westlake Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Nazarene Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Everything went Westlake Academy's way against Nazarene Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Westlake Academy made off with a 19-0 victory.
