The Ingalls Bulldogs suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 64-32 loss at the hands of Spearville. Ingalls' defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Ingalls lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lane Lightner, who scored ten points. Brogan Sperry was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Spearville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dereck Alcala led the charge by scoring 17 points. Alcala's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Ian Melendez, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Ingalls has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Spearville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.
Ingalls will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Minneola at 4:45 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Minneola focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. As for Spearville, they will face off against Ashland at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Ashland is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
