The Valley Christian Trojans will take on the Apache Junction Prospectors at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley Christian will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Valley Christian is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Yuma Catholic, who was ranked ninth at the time (Valley Christian was ranked third). The Trojans blew past the Shamrocks 7-1 on Monday. Considering the Trojans have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Carson Grier was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Brock Jackson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caleb Danzeisen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Apache Junction ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over ALA - Ironwood. The victory was some much needed relief for the Prospectors as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Isaiah Carranza, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Ryan Haselhorst was another key player, earning three runs.
Valley Christian pushed their record up to 22-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Apache Junction, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Valley Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. However, it's not like Apache Junction struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Valley Christian took their win against Apache Junction when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Prospectors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
