After a string of four wins, Goose Creek's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 48-40 to the Wando Warriors. The Gators were probably out for revenge after losing 56-54 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaliaya Jacobs, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Dates, who put up nine points and four steals.
Wando's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isabel Waite led the charge by putting up nine points in addition to seven steals and six assists. Waite is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Makenna Reynolds was another key player, going 5 of 7 on her way to 11 points and eight boards.
Goose Creek's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-7. As for Wando, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Stratford the next time they take the court. Goose Creek will head out to face Stratford at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th, while Wando will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
