Damascus and Magruder are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Hornets will challenge the Colonels at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Damascus will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

While Damascus' victory against Gaithersburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hornets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Trojans on Thursday. The two-run effort marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Ryan Mungra tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Damascus saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Gagen, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Gagen has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Magruder got the win against Wheaton on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-5. The Colonels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Magruder has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Damascus, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2.

Damascus might still be hurting after the 13-4 defeat they got from Magruder in their previous meeting on April 5th. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
